During Matla A Bokone’s construction phase, the solar farm invested a portion of its Enterprise Development Programme funding towards supporting local SMME’s.
The mentoring and coaching programme also included a quantity surveying service to these small local businesses, aiming to help bring about business behavioural changes through training and upskilling.
Beneficiaries of the programme included sixteen Black-owned SMME’s, four of which are women-owned.
Beneficiaries of this programme received the following support to assist SMMEs in participating meaningfully in the benefits relating to the solar farm’s construction: cost control services; quantity surveying and cost engineering services; establishing a database of sub-contractors; compiling sub-contractor tender documents; tender adjudication and reports; compiling contract documents; co-ordinating sub-contractors; and verifying invoices and compiling payment certificates.
